Description of Crap |
"Behind the jokey title and the lively, entertaining style, Terry Arthur has produced a devastating expose of the intellectual confusion, political deception and economic ignorance that have come to dominate public pronouncements. His precision of thought, clarity of language and lightly-worn scholarship have resulted in a book that would have won the warm approval of George Orwell." - Antony Jay, Co-author, "Yes Minister" and "Yes Prime Minister". "Mr Arthur has presented us with a user's manual to politicians. Anyone who reads it will not merely laugh out loud, but will be armed against all future attempts by the political class to lie, obfuscate and prevaricate. To this end some philanthropist should pay for a copy to be sent into every household in the land." - Simon Heffer, Associate Editor, "Daily Telegraph".Taking its inspiration from Terry Arthur's thirty year-old classic "95 per cent is Crap: A Plain Man's Guide to British Politics", this is a down-to-earth expose of the crap still being peddled by leading politicians today. Humorously but devastatingly written, Arthur exposes twelve very different sorts of political crap. Irreverent yet brilliant, this guide is essential reading for everyone who is sick of 'spin' - or worse.

Customer Reviews of Crap- If anything, Terry Arthur seems to have improved on his earlier book, 95% Is Crap a book which confirmed my suspicions that many politicians weren't as wise and virtuous as they might like us to believe. This time - and I agree - he has concluded that politics is now ALL crap. But he does it in such a way that you just have to laugh at the absurdities and inanities that our politicians come out with, and the way that their polices invariably have the opposite effect of what they intended, and often do more harm than good. This tract for our times is great stuff. You have to laugh or you'd cry...

- What an interesting book!I am no political beast, but Terry Arthur's commentary on our learned politicians is hilarious. His words and supporting quotations provide a thought provoking account which encapsulates the melee that is modern day politics. He attempts to engage the modern day person in the deeper meaning of political thought. The style of writing and the way the book is laid out is both intriguing and captivating. It helps to guide the normal man through the labyrinth of political speak. It exposes many of our politicians quite clearly for what they are, totally out of touch with real people like myself. Some parts of the book made me laugh out loud, other sections made me frustrated and even at times, angry. Why do we continue to allow these people to spout such rubbish without challenging them as Terry Arthur has done here? We need more of the same, please?!
